Alabama State Department of Education is Hiring a PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER Near Montgomery, AL

Physical Education Teacher

Leaders Influencing Freedom & Excellence (LIFE) Academy will implement curriculum and instruction that advances a trauma sensitive learning environment, through culturally relevant and holistic pedagogy, student connectedness, and authentic community partnerships.

Our Founding Teachers will deliver the most rigorous, joyful, and socially conscious academic experience for LIFE Academy students. Teachers will ensure students receive culturally relevant instruction while maintaining rigor. The Founding Teacher position will report directly to the Dean of Curriculum and works closely with the Dean of Students.

Mission-Alignment

  • Embrace the idea that a student’s prerequisite knowledge should serve as the foundation for which students learn to navigate the cultures of the

world.

  • Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual or team sports, utilizing curriculum

designated by L.I.F.E. Academy and the State Department of Education and other appropriate learning activities.

  • Cover after-school duty posts
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned by the Head of School.

Minimum educational level & Experience required

  • BA/BS in education or related field (preferred)
  • Teaching Certification (preferred)

  • SPECIAL NOTE: For employees starting work after the beginning date of the work term, the salary will be prorated and based on the number of contract days left in the school year, divided by the remaining months in the contract year.
